MTI Tools For The AEC Community

Overview of Tools

Masonry Technology Inc. is pleased that we can make available many useful tools for the AEC Community. These assets have been created by MTI. However, we are introducting a new App to aid the specifying and submittal process that was created in partnership with CSPECS. These AEC resources are explained below. If you are not clear on how any of these resources function, please give us a call at 1-800-879-3348.

Introducing CSPECS SpecSuite

The newest AEC resource provided by MTI is the new SpecSuite system from CSPECS.Fini Image This system is a one-stop resource for up-to-date MTI product information. The SpecSuite system allows architects, specifiers, contractors and anyone else involved in a building project to easily access, compile and share all necessary information. View Flash Tutorial.

The database can be searched by wall detail type such as" thin veneer stucco" or "full stone" and the correct MTI products will be shown in each of three sections: Drainage Planes, Weeps, and Accessories. Here's how it works:

  1. From the Fini page, select the SpecSuite button.
  2. From the Product Information Section, select one of the three categories.
  3. From the Category (Drainage Plane, Weep, Accessories) use the pulldown menu to select wall type.
  4. The MTI products for that detail/wall type will appear.
  5. Click the Spec Info button after the product name to find CAD, Specs, Details, and to create a Submital. Product documents are color-coded by profession: Blue=Architects, Green=Specifiers, Orange=Contractors.
  6. Click the red Submittal button to access a submital form that easily allows pulling all the documents and details needed into one place.
  7. The Fini interface also has buttons for our Product, HyperSpec, Testing, and Social Media sections.

One of the strengths of the SpecSuite app is the ability to easily communicate and share materials with all the members of your team within the SpecSuite app itself. At the bottom of the page is a "Real-Time Data Link" or communications bar that lets you Search, Email, and connect with your team through a wide variety of social media tools including Twitter and Facebook--all without having to leave the SpecSuite app!

One final note: On the main pages of the SpecSuite you will find a ? in blue button. This is the icon for onscreen help with the SpecSuite app. Download the SpecSuite Guide.

HyperSpecs

MTI created HyperSpecs several years ago as a web-based database for MTIHyperSpecs icon product information and application. HyperSpecs is organized into three categories: Veneer Type, Detail Type, MTI Products Used. HyperSpecs is a visual database. You can find the MTI products needed, information on how to apply them, and the necessary drawings and specs by matching your veneer or wall detail to a thumbnail image in the database.

If your building project has a thin brick veneer, simply click on the Veneer Type title and the section will expand listing 21 categories. The third category is Thin Brick, so you would click that next. The area to the right of the menu will display 13 wall details. Simply match your project to the correct image on the right and click that image. A new page devoted to that detail will open giving you access to the following types of information:

We are in the process of creating custom specs for each detail. When you download these custom specs, you will only be given the MTI products and installation information relevant to that detail. If you see the Hand, Pen and Blueprint icon in John's Notes, there are custom specs available for the detail you are viewing.

Product Cutsheets, Specs & More

The MTI Product section contains many assets useful to the AEC Community. The View All Products page gives you visual links to each of our products. The page is divided into three categories: Drainage Planes, Weep Systems, and Accessories. There is an icon in the upper right corner of each section for Product Specs relevant to the section. Clicking the product photo takes you to that product's page where you can obtain the following:
