More Than Just "Talking the Talk!"

Continued from Page 1...

Companies are more than happy to let you know that they are environmentally conscientious, and if that means investing big dollars in an exuberant number of print media campaigns and burning the fossil fuels needed to be present at every trade show imaginable, then so be it! We must ask, however, can a company claim to be green based solely on the products they manufacture or sell, or does that claim come with a larger responsibility to more adequately develop habits that are good for the environment?

At Masonry Technology, Inc. we have had to ask ourselves the same tough question; we have also had to reevaluate what it means to not only talk green, but to truly be green. It an attempt to better "walk the walk," MTI has developed a number of practices we believe are a step in the right direction. We have...

  • Minimized production waste: Our current manufacturing process has a material yield percentage of over 99.8%, minimizing costs for our customers and waste in the landfill.
  • Reduced the use of paper: While brochures are still available upon a customer's request, MTI's full-line product catalogs are a thing of the past. Customers can now go our website www.MTIdry.com for in-depth product information, construction details, testing, and more.
  • Nearly eliminated fuel usage: Modern-day telecommunications has allowed MTI to provide excellent in-house support for contractors, suppliers, architects and engineers. Whether it's broadcasting live and on-demand webinars to remote locations or utilizing our online HyperSpecs Detail Drawings Library, MTI has been very successful at communicating information and support via the phone and internet.
  • Continued production of sustainable products: MTI manufactures its drainage plane systems from post-industrial recycled material.

These practices have already revolutionized our way of doing business, and we're just getting started. MTI will continue to investigate more ways to hold itself accountable to not only talk green, but to be green as well.
